چکیده

Introduction Autopsy data has demonstrated that the abdominal aorta offers a valuable early window for the study of atherosclerosis. Current MRI strategies often suffer from long scan times or require slice gaps. We sought to implement a small field-of-view approach (zoom imaging) (Buecker, A. et al, 1998), to allow complete coverage of the thoracic and abdominal aorta. To improve blood signal nulling before and after contrast administration for identical imaging parameters, we combined zoom imaging with a quadruple inversion recovery (QIR) pre-pulse (Yarnykh, V. et al, 2002). Purpose To demonstrate the feasibility of the novel zoom QIR technique for plaque imaging in the abdominal aorta.

[Scan time reduction with a small field-of-view quadruple inversion-recovery high-resolution contrast-enhanced MRI for carotid atherosclerosis].

OBJECTIVE To reduce the acquisition time of carotid high-resolution contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (CEMRI), we designed a small field-of-view (FOV) quadruple-inversion-recovery (SF-QIR) T1WI and evaluated the image quality. METHODS Twenty-four subjects with carotid plaque were enrolled in our study. All the subjects were imaged using the same 3.0T MRI by SF-QIR and standard rect...

The effect of inversion times on the minimum signal intensity of the contrast agent concentration using inversion recovery t1-weighted fast imaging sequence

Background :Inversion recovery (IR) pulse sequences can generate T1-weighted images with a different range of inversion time (TI) to suppress or null the signal intensity (SI) for a specified tissue. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of TI values on the concentration of the contrast agent, which leads to a minimum signal intensity, using an inversion recovery T1-weighted 3-dim...

Improved carotid intraplaque hemorrhage imaging using a slab-selective phase-sensitive inversion-recovery (SPI) sequence.

Intraplaque hemorrhage in atherosclerotic plaques has been associated with accelerated plaque growth as well as exacerbation of clinical symptoms. The identification of intraplaque hemorrhage using magnetic resonance imaging primarily relies on the detection of methemoglobin on T(1) weighted images. Current techniques are limited by insufficient intraplaque hemorrhage-wall contrast and poor blo...

Inversion in the steady state: contrast optimization and reduced imaging time with fast three-dimensional inversion-recovery-prepared GRE pulse sequences.

PURPOSE To evaluate the differences in contrast between 1-second delay and zero delay (for magnetization recovery) before the preparation radio-frequency pulse in three-dimensional, inversion-recovery (IR) fast gradient-echo (GRE) acquisitions. MATERIALS AND METHODS Mathematical simulations and measurements of brain image contrast were performed with healthy volunteers and 10 patients. RESU...

Comparative Evaluations of 3d Turbo Spin Echo (tse) Motion Sensitized Driven Equilibrium (msde) and 2d Double Inversion Recovery Tse Sequences for T1-weighted Black-blood Carotid Atherosclerosis Imaging

Introduction In vivo MR carotid plaque imaging has been used to identify vessel morphology and plaque characteristics, and their associations with clinical symptoms. [1] Two-dimensional T1 weighted (T1W) double inversion recovery spin echo [2] and subsequently quadruple inversion recovery spin echo sequences [3] have been used to obtain the contrast between vessel wall and lumen, and identify c...
